Volvo Cars
To help launch the new Volvo EX60, a car that marked a major turning point for Volvo, we created a four-part series of short-form documentary films exploring the innovations behind it.
Guided by the voices of Volvo experts and collaborators, each film focused on a different part of the car’s offering, from its advanced manufacturing and stringent safety standards to its intelligent technology and Google Gemini integration.
Originally created as part of the reveal event, the films now live on YouTube, where they have been viewed more than 747,000 times collectively.
001 – Manufacturing
In this film, we took viewers inside Volvo’s Torslanda factory in Gothenburg to see how the EX60 was made.
Guided by Volvo’s Peter Schüler and Johan Andersson, the film explored two critical innovations behind the car: mega casting and cell-to-body battery technology.
002 – Safety
Safety has always been central to Volvo, but the EX60 gave us a chance to show how that legacy is still evolving.
Filmed inside the Volvo Cars Safety Centre with Åsa Haglund, Head of Safety Centre, and Lotta Jakobsson, Senior Technical Leader, Safety, this film explored the real-world research and extensive testing behind the EX60’s safety systems.
003 – Technology
For the EX60, innovation was not just about what the car could do at launch, but how it could keep improving after it left the factory.
Shot inside the Volvo Cars Software Test Centre with Alwin Bakkenes, Head of Global Software Engineering, and Kristina Elowson, Programme Manager, this film explored the advanced technology behind Volvo’s most technologically advanced car to date.
004 – Google Gemini
For the Google Gemini film, we shifted away from the documentary format and took a more narrative approach.
Shot as a fictionalised road trip between Amir Esfahani, Director, Business Development and Partnerships at Volvo Cars, and Joshua Hodgson, Automotive Partnerships at Google, the film showed Gemini in action inside the new Volvo EX60.
